This is part of a series of paintings I made that explores mysteries of human consciousness through a medium I love to use, watercolour! It consists mostly of visionary art themes, surrealism, metaphysics, and mythological subject matter. The Rising Phoenix is a universal story of triumph over adversity, rising above and the transformation that happens when we go through life's obstacle course. I also see it as a rebirth, with the baby turtle swimming upwards towards her face. Like most of my paintings it is also left up to the viewer to experience what it means to them.
