This series is taken from the artist's large-scale painting Gathered in the Moss . The original artwork is 5feet high by 30feet long 1.5 meters by 9 meters and was inspired by the book Gathering Moss by bryologist Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer. The artist based the images on the mossy environments he studied in the forest along the bluffs of the St Croix River while Artist-in-Residence at the Pine Needles Preserve in Minnesota.
