Residing in the Caribbean, Xandre is currently producing artwork, from his studio in Belize, that aim to capture the many cultural exchanges and experiences he encounters.
"My work explores themes of memory, emotion, and place, by using a painterly style that reconciles and harmonizes expression and realism. Inspired by the fleeting beauty of the world, I work to create dynamic canvases with bold brushstrokes and vibrant colors. With my compositional choices I wish to evoke timelessness and invite reflection on connection and belonging."
The artist’s painterly approach — expressive brushwork, layered texture, and tonal variation — amplifies the sensory reality of his scenes. But more than that, it reflects the layered nature of memory itself. In Folscher’s work, painting becomes a way of honoring heritage, restoring visibility to stories too often edited out of view, and grounding abstraction in real people, real places, and real time.
