Biography Franck, né le 16 avril 1966 dans la plus illustre cité corsaire d’Europe, sur la côte ouest de France nommée Saint Malo. Il a grandi et baigné dans les odeurs de peinture à l’huile et de térébenthine. ? Formé dès son plus jeune âge au dessin classique et à la peinture figurative par un père enlumineur de chèques, Franck a ancré sa bulle créative dans la Bretagne de son enfance, sur les plages ventées de la côte ouest française. ?Isolé dans un monde féminin et grandissant sous la bienveillance affectueuse d’une grand-mère qui compense l’évasion de parents trop occupés, il se destine très tôt à devenir créateur d’art, mais il subit l’incompréhension d’un entourage redoutant de le voir choisir un avenir de pauvreté et de grisaille. L’année de ses 12 ans, tandis que la tempête gronde et ébranle le foyer familial, il est envoyé en pension au collège privé Saint-Magloire, à Dol-de-Bretagne, dont les méthodes rigoureuses marquent profondément son adolescence de gaucher contraint à satisfaire aux normes de la majorité droitière. Préservant sans relâche ses moments de solitude, il s'évade aussi souvent qu’il peut dans un monde où l’imagination occupe une place majeure.. Dans les années 80, envers et contre tous, il se rend enfin à Paris pour débuter le combat d’une vie, celui qu’il devra mener pour devenir artiste...mais pour survivre, il faut apprendre et pour approcher les maîtres, il faut trouver des fonds. Il propose alors ses services de maintenance à une compagnie américaine de déplacement, qui lui offre l’opportunité, en février 1986, de participer à la rénovation de la plus connue de toutes les répliques de la statue de la liberté (sur l’île aux Cygnes à Paris, au niveau du pont de Grenelle). Il en a gardé le souvenir ineffable de l’ivresse qu’il avait à défier le ministère des Finances, tandis qu’il prenait sa pause-déjeuner assis dans le creux du bras de la grande Dame, traçant les esquisses de détails dans un calepin, faisant fi de l’interdiction de figer toute image de ce site à haute surveillance. Cette expérience va ensuite le mener à l’école d’art américaine, où il travaille matin et soir et où il étudie jour et nuit, durant deux ans et demi À partir de 1991, il s’installe à Thionville dans la Moselle, en bordure de la frontière allemande, où il suit une formation en soudure et apprend quatre procédés lui permettant de sculpter avec différents métaux et de gagner sa vie tout en finançant sa vocation artistique. ? Le premier Corkspeople est né le 14 mars 1992, par une froide nuit de fin d'hiver. Après avoir vidé deux bouteilles de vin rouge, alors que ses doigts faisaient danser les bouchons, l’artiste a commencé à penser aux gens qui l’entouraient, à ceux qu’il croisait, à ceux qui l’inspiraient... ? En 1992, il change de cap et devient patron d’un petit café culturel blotti dans le petit village de Weileiweiler, en Sarre (un des seize Länder composant l'Allemagne). On accourt de loin pour profiter de l’ambiance festive du Café Filou et les journées sont chargées d’efforts et d’anecdotes. Pourtant, durant ces années, il continue de produire et d’exposer ses œuvres. ? Ainsi, ses œuvres, vendues à des collectionneurs privés en Allemagne (Weileiweiler, Berlin), en France (Thionville) et au Luxembourg, lui valent une place bien en vue dans la presse allemande au Saarbrücker Zeitung. ? En 1997, il part se ressourcer en Bretagne et, dès l’année suivante, des expositions dans un grand café et dans un centre culturel en banlieue de Rennes, le mènent à une interview au journal télévisé régional Parti en mer des Caraïbes pour un mois de repos en 1999, il y reste sept années, au cours desquels il vit de contrats de décoration extérieure et intérieure, tout en continuant à donner vie aux Corkspeople. Il expose d’ailleurs son travail pour l’inauguration de CORIDA, l’une des meilleures agences de publicité en Martinique (Caraïbes). ? Durant cette période, il retourne régulièrement à New York, qu’il fréquente depuis 1989 et où il expose au Pioneers bar (grand pub irlandais de Manhattan) en 2005 et vend plusieurs toiles. ? En 2006, il rentre en France où il passe deux années de jachère, mais il finit par répondre aux appels du large et repart à New York, déviant finalement sa route plus au nord, vers Montréal (Canada), où il décide de poser ses valises Marquée par le passage d'un continent à l'autre, cette période provoque une brève incursion dans un nouvel univers esthétique, celui de la sculpture. Ainsi, faute d’espace durant la traversée, il abandonne quelques temps la peinture, son langage de prédilection, et explore d’autres médiums à travers lesquels déverser ma créativité bouillonnante. Il est tout de suite attiré par la douceur, la brillance et la souplesse de l'aluminium. ? En août 2008, il fait une exposition dans un restaurant dans la ville de Verdun, puis suit le Noroit jusqu’à Notre-Dame-du-Nord, au Témiscamingue (2009), et se rend jusque dans les mines d’or et de diamant du Nunavut. Il y découvre le réconfort de la solitude, ainsi que la splendeur et les rigueurs du climat, avec des températures hivernales souvent en-dessous de -55° C. ? Entre 2011 et 2013, il accepte d’agir comme photographe officiel au Rodéo du camion de Notre-Dame-du-Nord et couvre les courses de poids lourd. C’est à cette époque qu’il traverse la frontière ontarienne, vivant à Haileybury et exposant à New Liskeard jusqu’en 2014 À partir de 2015, il s’ancre à Montréal et découvre les charmes de Taiwan, où il retourne régulièrement, expose une sculpture au magasin Ty Lee Pens, et vend plusieurs peintures. Ainsi nourri d’images côtières et grisé de vapeurs orientales, il continue à peupler l’univers des Corkspeople et se voue à la création de meubles de luxe, dont un bureau dédié à l’écriture. En 2018, il reprend la route vers Notre-Dame-du-Nord pour amorcer un audacieux projet de transformation de cabine de camion en bateau corsaire, le Balbuzard, qu’il mène à bon terme en novembre 2020 En juillet 2021, une exposition aura lieu au musée et centre d'art de Montréal. De retour en Allemagne courant septembre il se lance dans une collaboration avec la société Kirk's Total Wine pour proposer des œuvres uniques à leurs clients. Fin octobre, il aura été mit en avant pendant l'exposition de ces œuvres au salon vins et gastronomie en France, ce qui lui offre une annonce dans un média local qui se nomme radio laser.
