ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: A.P.POLO - NO BORDER NO NATION
A.P.Polo - "No Border No Nation " - Hamburg (Germany). At the demonstrations, you hear the call "No Border, No Nation - Stop Deportation" again and again. For many, this may just be a slogan, but there is more to it than that. It contains core statements of anarchist thinking. Of course, this slogan is not the last word in wisdom, but let's take a look at what exactly it means. We start with the last part of the slogan: "Stop Deportation" It's actually quite simple: it calls for the abolition of all deportations. is called for. This is probably the most practical part of the slogan. Still "illegal" people are still being deported. Countries are still arbitrarily declared "safe" countries. People are still dying. People are being deported to this war-torn country just because an interior minister has declared Afghanistan safe. From a privileged position, it is decided who deserves to stay in this country to stay in this country and who does not. The practical realisation of such demands can be observed more and more often: People from the neighbourhood standing up for people threatened with deportation; blocking deportation flights; high-profile initiatives from the Refugee Council or similar institutions. Such actions are necessary in these times, but in a world where "No Border, No Nations" applies, they would be superfluous. All borders gone! Immediately! It would be too good if this demand could be realised immediately. From the point of view of the state apparatus borders are essential to secure its own power. At the same time keep in mind that bloody wars were fought to secure and maintain borders. secure and maintain borders. Borders have always been an important factor in the self-determination of self-proclaimed patriots. Pride in one's homeland is a deeply irrational matter, especially against the backdrop of cultural and linguistic linguistic differences. Swabians and Rhinelanders are both Germans by both Germans by definition, but could not be more different. Nationality must therefore be used as a forced collectivising factor. must therefore be used. They are the product of a policy of compartmentalisation based on the capitalist logic of exploitation. If you have money, you can come in; if you are poor, you stay out. Today, borders are therefore primarily used to secure our own prosperity and no longer to protect us from external enemies. It is well known that there are exceptions. The most prominent example is probably Israel. For there are indeed still external enemies there who would prefer to see its inhabitants dead today rather than yesterday. From the anarchist perspective, this border is also an artificially created and divisive entity, but unfortunately it is (still) a pure necessity as a protective measure in today's world, in which (extermination) anti-Semitism still exists. We hope that this misguided world view will eventually disappear and that these borders will no longer have to exist. Solidarity here therefore applies to people as a marginalised group who would be exposed to persecution without the protective space. This is a direct consequence of the Shoah. Of course, we cannot hope that all borders will disappear tomorrow. But it is worth fighting for our dreams. So that the murder at the external borders stops, everyone can choose their own place of residence and become the master of their own destiny. For now, it remains a utopia, a pipe dream: "No Border, No Nation." But everything was a dream until it became reality. We continue to dream and fight. The goal is a world in which national borders and states in their current form and definition are no longer necessary. We must not be so naïve as to think that if we immediately dissolve all states and borders, the goal would be achieved. On the contrary, "no border, no nation" means something much bigger. It means a world without artificial and divisive collective attributions, a world without discrimination, be it direct or structural. It is the dream of a liberated society in which we are all equal and simply no longer need states and borders. This slogan should not only be heard at demonstrations, but should also be put into practice. We show solidarity with everyone who helps refugees to overcome borders; everyone who develops alternatives to this system; everyone who not only shouts the slogan, but does so in the knowledge that they want to achieve more. In a world in which people are still dying thanks to Frontex or are marginalised thanks to state capitalist interests, practical alternatives must be developed and implemented. All discriminatory structures must be attacked - including within oneself. The fight for a liberated society is not an easy one, on the contrary. But what should we do if not show the utopia of how it could be? And work to bring it a little closer!
