Set Me Free is a powerful art piece that speaks to the strength of family bonds and the power of art to break down barriers. The piece was a collaboration between a father, Manny, his eldest son Dean Berrios, and an unknown graffiti artist. In a way, this is a self portrait of the artist. The work is a multimedia piece, featuring newspaper clippings that feature Manny, as well as a colorful acrylic version of the graffiti artist's work. The original graffiti art was originally on the side of a building in Miami and was seen by both Manny and his son when they attended Art Basel in Miami together. It was then that Dean added the red wording and hearts, giving the piece an extra layer of meaning and emotion. Set Me Free is an inspiring statement about the power of art to free us from our own limitations, and the strength of family bonds that help make this possible.
