After studying the physics behind cameras in college, I started getting interested in photography when I started hiking. Developing my artistic skill has been a rewarding venture, and enabled me to get a number of my photographs into art galleries and curated art shows, including having one of my photographs from Patagonia selected for a print exhibition in the Louvre. As I transitioned from film to digital, I also became curious about motion pictures, and ended up making a promotional video for a TEDx conference, an experience that got me hooked on cinematography. Since then I have shot over 40 short films and two feature films. Some of those have gotten festival awards, including Best Short, Best Director, and a nomination for Best Picture. ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: HOPE WILDFIRE 1
On the way back to Vancouver from Valemount, we planned on taking a break for lunch in Hope. When we got into town we saw a plume of smoke rising from the forest near the town, and by the time we finished lunch it had grown into this conflagration and the firefighting helicopters were flying in to fight it. This image for all its macabre beauty shows the scale of the fire compared to the helicopters flying into it, and the bravery and dedication of the fire fighting teams. It also highlights the hazars posed by wildfires and the need to address climate change, because if we don't the fires will only get worse.
