Growing up as a teen reading Stephen Kings Dark Tower series one of the events that always stood out was The Gunslingers encounter with the lobstosity creatures. These weird half scorpion half lobster giants he first encounters in a strange new world. Sometimes I find fact just as strange as fiction, with this parasitic fungus taking over other types of mushrooms that were otherwise non edible and turning them into choice picking for mushroom enthusiasts. Having an active imagination I was able to vividly picture these giant monsters depicted in Kings novel but never in a million ears would imagine a fungus eating a mushroom.
