It was inspired by a captivating YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YVb4s1DGzw I stumbled upon about a week ago, showcasing the intricate process of soap-making. The piece, rendered in oil on an 11x9 panel, captures the essence of hard work and devotion exhibited by the skilled craftsmen at Masbanat Awaida, who have been producing traditional olive oil soap for over 140 years. Once, Tripoli, Lebanon, was home to numerous soap factories like this one, but now, Masbanat Awaida stands proudly as the sole surviving establishment of its kind, preserving a rich heritage of craftsmanship.
