I was born in Havana, Cuba just one year after Castro took power in the island. From my early childhood I remember that my uncle Rafael Giro was an avid and excellent artist. His favorite technique was using pencil colors and doing people portraits, I was very impressed with a baby painting he did of me. I guess that I inherited my painting skills from him. But my painting career really began and took off at 13, I was living in Miami then and ironically enough I was trained on the skills of oil painting by some nuns at a local Catholic Arts Center called: "Centro Mater" and my very FIRST painting there was "Two Oranges" on a tree branch. Later I started painting more oil paintings like "Still Life", "Landscapes" and "Nudes" like Goya's famous "Naked Maja" and I also painted a naked portrait of Mexican Actress Iran Eory BELIEVE IT OR NOT! I like to paint mostly "Portraits" but I also love to do "Landscapes" and "Animals" as well although mostly "Birds" and "Cats" as you can tell by my most of my very recent paintings and artwork. Overall, they call me "The Cuban Van Gogh" because almost every day I paint something NEW!
