Hey Yall! It's Micky. A proud mom, wife and the creative force behind Third Coast Decor Market. Discovering my love for handcrafted art and design started at a young age; my great-grandmother heavily influenced my affinity for creative projects. Affectionately referred to as "Big Mama," she'd often encourage my cousins and me to design beautiful yet functional pieces like sitting mats out of brown paper bags and newspapers. Although they were simple in nature, those tasks left an indelible mark on me that sparked my creative tendencies. I can still recall how good it felt to transform something mundane into something completely different that was both vibrant and practical but uniquely mine. Those childhood experiences are forever ingrained in me; the beauty of function and the pouring of oneself onto a blank canvas. However, despite discovering my passions early, my journey to art and design was unconventional. Tasked with earning a living for 23yrs +, I decided to take a leap of faith and walk in purpose. Unwilling to go another day without satisfying my creative side, Third Coast Design Market was formed in early 2021, allowing me the freedom to pursue my love for painting, design and decor! Today, I use a "less is more" approach, intentionally curating spaces with purposeful pieces such as cultural collections, family portraits, art and children’s artwork to reflect the owner's taste and how they function within their space. Artistically, my visual and digital artwork are abstractly-centered around simplicity and beauty in the middle of constant movement, chaos, and the day-to-day grind. Using various elements favoring acrylics, pencils and watercolors to create textures and shapes on canvas and wood for a seamless flow. I'm happy to say that I've found simple joys rooted in family, function, beautiful design, and art that radiates a similar joy for others!
