"Photography is telling a story in a thousandth of a second" This phrase has always been for me a kind of motto to go in search of the next photographic story. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and in 2006 I settled in the city of Campeche. My beginnings in photography go back to 1990, year in which I took a basic photography course in the Academy of Visual Arts of Buenos Aires and from there all my training has been eminently self-taught. My lens portrays a wide variety of subjects, but where I am most comfortable is producing nature photography, since from a very young age I was attracted to the natural world and its inhabitants. I am an active member of NANPA (North American Nature Photography Association) and OAS (Ocean Artists Society) and ambassador of the “Great Mayan Aquifer” project and "Nature First" organization. My work has been published in various publications and exhibited in different samples. I´ve participated in photography competitions locally, nationally and internationally, in which I´ve been awarded several mentions. My personal mission when I am behind the camera, is to create evocative and attractive images that capture in the public the interest in the natural aspects of our planet, the beings that inhabit them and the risks in which they are, and from that generate awareness about the importance of the conservation of the planet.

ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: WATER LILIES
The cenotes of the Yucatan peninsula are magical places. They hold within them a formidable historical, archaeological and biological wealth, but they are also sites of unparalleled beauty. The clarity of their waters and the aquatic plants that inhabit them form scenes of delicate and harmonious charm. Because of these characteristics, these sites are very popular with tourists who come to this region by the thousands to enjoy its waters. Unfortunately this endless flow of people has an enormous impact on the preservation of the cenotes and in many cases makes it practically impossible to take images that reflect the true essence of these sacred places. Undoubtedly the best strategy to obtain an image that would transmit that unique sense of peace and tranquility that is experienced in the cenotes would be to locate one outside the circuit typically visited by tourists. To do so, I took a few days to explore the surroundings of the Riviera Maya, accompanied by a great friend who knows the area well, and who suggested several options to explore. We had two days of exploration ahead of us and on the way we visited several cenotes. It was not always easy to access them, many are hidden in the jungle, off the beaten path. We had to make strenuous treks in the jungle, surrounded by the intimidating sounds of the jungle, embraced by oppressive heat and humidity and enduring the insistent and maddening presence of many mosquitoes. However, what always worried me the most was the possibility of having an undesirable encounter with snakes, which in the thick jungle it is very difficult to see or hear them and you can unintentionally step on them and receive a dangerous bite. The strong smell of decomposition from the body of a deer we encountered reminded us that the jungle is a place where everything is debated between life and death. By the end of the day, I had my choice made, it was a relatively large cenote, shallow, with good visibility and a beautiful forest of colorful aquatic plants, and we could access it within a short distance with our vehicle and avoid carrying the equipment through the jungle. Everything looked perfect the next morning. We had everything ready. We loaded our vehicle with the diving and photography equipment and headed for the cenote we had chosen the day before. However, plans got complicated. Quickly, as it usually happens in this region, a storm formed, which after a few minutes unloaded a huge amount of water. We had to stop our march as vision was impossible. After twenty minutes, as if by magic, the rain stopped and the sky opened up. The storm left behind an unbearable humidity and even worse, the roads were almost impassable. In spite of the circumstances we decided to continue, trusting in the off road capabilities of our vehicle. However, close to the cenote, the wheels sank into the mud and the vehicle could not go any further. We were so close but at the same time, so far away. We made several attempts to move it and it was useless. Just as I was beginning to assimilate the fact that I would not be taking pictures that day, the vehicle could generate traction and drive off! With renewed enthusiasm we arrived at the cenote. After so much effort and tension, the solitude and serenity of the place and the contact with the fresh water were a true spiritual gift to my being. For the next hour I quietly took pictures of the peaceful and colorful underwater landscape. I think this image taught me that even though at times our lives are in chaotic moments, in the end we can find serenity. The important thing is not to lose the positive spirit and the storm will always give way to calm in the end.
