ABOUT DECLAN O REILLY fs
Follow

Declan is an actor and painter living in Calgary, Alberta. He was born in Belfast, N.Ireland and moved to Malawi, central Africa when he was six. His family emigrated to Canada in the late 70’s. After studying acting and obtaining his BFA from the University of Alberta he co-founded Edmonton’s Free Will Players Shakespeare Company. He began taking art classes in late 2014 when he returned to Calgary from a 17 year stint in Toronto. Although he works primarily with acrylic paint he dabbles in oils and is a hobbyist photographer. During the pandemic Declan started experimenting with digital art by creating filters from his abstract paintings and combining them with some of the photographs he had taken over the years. The result is what he calls “Paintography” a digital representation of photo painting. These images explore a wide range of themes from western Canadian landscapes to inner city surprises and sometimes the just plain absurd. Enjoy!
