Stephen B. Morton is an American (b. 1959) photographer living in Savannah, Georgia, since 1999. As an emerging artist, Stephen is becoming known for his large abstract metal prints. Inspired by the nexus of light and graphic elements of rusting metal and machinery in this industrial landscape, his single-frame images use strong composition with asymmetrical components to capture the natural corrosion that occurs on the hulls of the world's largest container ships. In 2020, Stephen opened his first solo exhibition with 21 dye-sublimated prints at the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum. Shortly after, two images were selected for the curated High Tide/Low Country exhibition at Photopoint Gallery. That fall, Stephen's 30-inch x 24-inch photograph titled Santa Teresa Ascends was picked for the Atlanta Photography Group's Francis Thompson Selects exhibition highlighted in the Atlanta Celebrates Photography Festival. Currently, this year is off to a good start with his work being selected to appear in the American Illustration and American Photography (AI-AP) 37 annual award book, representing the best pictures from 2020. In addition, during the spring, Stephen is also honored to have his work selected for the Atlanta Photography Group's juried exhibition Portfolio 2021 exhibition. Stephen's work was requested to be in the permanent collections of the International Africa-American Museum in Charleston and Savannah Municipal Archives.
