ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: UNDERNEATH
"Underneath" is a powerful visual immersion into the primal, elemental layers of the foundational self. Part of my grounded minimalism collection, this visceral artwork explores the profound depth that lies below the structured surface of consciousness. The composition is a vertical diptych of textures. The upper section features a raw, golden-ochre field with an heavily textured canvas weave and scratch-like sgraffito lines. Three dark crimson spires rise from the central boundary, like ancient spires, mountains, or vital pulses emerging from the deep. The lower section is an impenetrable, dense maroon and deep burgundy field, holding a heavily textured, central element with intense physical relief. This element, resembling collaged, crinkled fabric embedded in paint and highlighted in raw crimson, acts as the "heart of the matter"—a vital, raw knot of life or subconscious energy "underneath." This painting is a statement of enduring strength and subterranean vitality.
