ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: MEASURED BLOCKS
The canvas is a city at noon rendered in strict geometry. Thick black rails cut the picture into a network of streets and alleys they are not decorative but operational the bones of a place that measures everything by right angles. Between those rails blocks of color sit like buildings: a broad sunlit yellow holds the center with confident authority flanked by fields of urgent red and quiet white. Small black squares punctuate the composition — doors maybe or the shadows cast by an unseen skyline — while a solitary red dot on a horizontal bar reads like a pulse or a signal light insistently alive against the ordered restraint around it. Walk the grid with your eyes and you feel compelled to read the story of movement. Horizontal bands stretch like avenues suggesting a calm east–west drift vertical lines rise sharply introducing tension and the possibility of ascent. The white rectangles are rooms where time slows the red blocks are embers of decision and the yellow is a window where someone might stand watching the geometry of day unfold.
