ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: POOL OF INTROSPECTION
The scene opens like a dream built inside a room that forgot where its walls end. On the left a life?size figure stands painted like an anatomy chart gone wild. His skin is peeled back into fluorescent reds yellows and blues nerves and bones outlined with graffiti strokes. He’s half museum exhibit half street?art phantom. Behind him the wall is crowded with clashing posters: monochrome portraits with bold graphic borders stenciled like political propaganda or pop?art icons. They feel like echoes of different eras all speaking at once. The ceiling above him is not safe from this visual noise—images creep up onto it as if gravity doesn’t apply. One frame tilts overhead suggesting that even the roof has become another page in this visual collage. Step toward the center and a swimming pool interrupts the chaos a neat blue rectangle sunk into the floor. Its clean geometry contrasts sharply with the turbulent graffiti. The water is calm almost indifferent to the surrounding frenzy reflecting patches of sky?blue and fractured color. Tiny objects float or rest near its edge as if previous stories have been left there and forgotten. Around the pool are silhouetted figures rendered as flat black cutouts. They have no faces no clothes just outlines. They might be viewers ghosts or placeholders for whoever looks at this picture. Their presence adds a disquieting innocence—like memories frozen in mid?fall. Red spheres hover in the air casting soft shadows: planets in this interior cosmos or ornaments thrown up and never coming down. They reinforce the feeling that this room is unbound by ordinary physics or time. Through the opening at the far end the scene suddenly breathes: a lush idealized landscape unfolds—a pagoda green mountains blue sky and water. It’s painted almost like a postcard or a traditional landscape scroll serene and distant. This outside world looks too perfect an escapist window framed by the chaotic urban interior. The composition suggests stepping from a dense media?saturated psyche into a calm archetypal nature.
