ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: DIAGONAL SHADOWS
Light pours in first. It enters from the left as a tall gridded window its panes tinted with soft blues ambers and pale reds. The glass resembles a quiet stained?glass mural but without figures or saints—only color geometry and morning clarity. Rectangles stack and repeat like a code of daylight translated into shapes. On the floor the window’s pattern breaks into long diagonal shadows that stretch toward the right marking time like a sundial. Inside this vast high?ceilinged room the air feels more like a workshop than a chapel—yet both moods coexist. In the foreground a structure stands on a sturdy dark platform. It’s part tower part machine: a vertical red beam rises sharply braced by a gray framework that hints at scaffolding or a crane. At its base a circular form—almost like a gear or pulley—suggests motion or the potential for it. This object feels grounded industrial bolted to reality. Then the room begins to defy gravity. Suspended from above a constellation of sharp-edged forms hovers in midair. Triangles wedges and trapezoids interlock in a starburst of blues whites and vivid reds. Some pieces jut outward like wings or sails others fold inward forming a crystalline core. Thin cables or rods descend from the ceiling holding this whole assembly aloft yet it feels as though it might lift of its own accord. This hanging construction has the presence of a ship mid-flight a collapsing star and a futuristic city all at once. Small bridge-like elements—slender red and yellow beams—extend across it as if tiny walkways connect the fragments. Soft clouds or fog roll across the lower part of the scene blurring the boundary between interior and exterior. Above this haze a low structure—part plinth part tower—rises in warm browns and oranges. It echoes the machine in the foreground but simplified as though the forms are becoming more abstract as they recede into distance. The floor beneath everything is barely visible through the haze dissolving into squares and bands of color. The perspective lines of the room pull your gaze outward creating a feeling of infinite space beyond the walls as if this is not just a studio but a gateway to another world where geometry is the language of the landscape. Narratively the scene reads like a moment of creation: an architect’s dream caught between blueprint and reality. The anchored structure at left suggests the old world of bolts steel and engines. The suspended forms overhead hint at a new world—flight abstraction and ideas freed from weight. The fog outside is the unknown: the future the unbuilt city the sky waiting to be claimed.
