My different experiences and travels have taught me to compose my images to capture the essence of a place or a telling moment, whether it is the rich culture of the Deep South, the Asian sense of design and penchant for perfection, the Italian joy for life, or the soft light of the south of France.

ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: SAN REMO SHOPS
San Remo is a modern, vibrant city on the northwestern italian coast. Even the "new" part of San Remo is old by US standards. This small street is typical of the central shopping area with many small shops next to each other and with apartments above. The gated entrance to the apartments above is shown on the left and even though there are businesses below, you can see the residents laundry hanging out the window above the hat shop. The Dolcemania Caffé is a typical inviting little shop where you can stand at the counter and have a coffee and a pastry, or for a little more, you can sit at a table and get waited on. You can even sit on the benches by the doorway to sip your coffee and watch people go by--the napkins are an invitation to sit there. San Remo is a good-sized vibrant city, but it hasnt lost its charm as this little street shows.
