I am a landscape and urban photographer with a diverse style, based in both Madrid and Vermont (US). My passion for photography began in my teenage years and continued throughout a long career as a professor at the University of Vermont. Since retiring as an Emeritus Professor, I have focused on historical research and nature photography. One of my favorite pastimes is walking along Lake Champlain in Vermont and exploring other beautiful areas across Canada, Spain, and Portugal. The landscapes and wildlife of New England and Canada are unparalleled, as are the monumental and historical diversity of Spain, Portugal, and their islands. My photography is grounded in a blend of emotion, intuition, and technique. Every day is different, and so is my mood when I press the shutter. Aware of the fleeting nature of the universe around us, I strive to capture the beauty of each moment, knowing it will never be the same. My images reflect my physical and emotional connection to my surroundings, expressing beauty, humor, tenderness, and awe. The aesthetic beauty and sensuality of "rejoneo" have long captivated the eyes and souls of great artists. Spanish masters like Goya, Picasso, Dalí, Sorolla, and Lorca, as well as the French Édouard Manet, or Bizet found in it a powerful source of inspiration. The horse and the toro bravo, a mythical and emblematic creature of Mediterranean heritage, owes its continued existence to this ancestral ritual that merges art and symbolism in a unique cultural expression. My personal philosophy, influenced by Taoism, Epicureanism, and Stoicism, reminds me that one day I will become part of the very landscapes I photograph, joining the infinite and spiraling flow of nature.
