As long as I can remember since growing up in the Pacific Northwest (USA), I've had a deep love for the outdoors which ultimately translated into a career as a professional engineering geologist that led me across the country to my home in the Mid-Atlantic Region, on a 30 year adventure in the US and abroad. A parallel passion for photography was sparked after my father briefly gave me his camera as a child to take some pictures of the 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens and I saw the resulting prints of the photos I captured. The two passions have remained on equal footing ever since as natural partners. It’s nearly impossible not to look around, particularly while sitting at the top of a rock outcrop after a long day overlooking a grand vista, and not appreciate the beauty before you and your fortune being able to see it right there ; right then. I suppose I sit at that odd intersection of science and art.. sometimes, I simply let Mother Nature speak for herself without adding my narratives.. sometimes it’s the mood I pursue. I embrace both, but my goal is always to blend the two seamlessly.... Strive to capture the emotional essence of what inspired me to stop and photograph, and, capture moments and subjects that are authentic. If just one of my images inspires you to purchase, frame, and hang it on your wall I am deeply honored - thank you.
