The Hidden Galaxy, also known as NGC 3631, lies in the constellation Camelopardalis, approximately 10-11 million light-years away. About 75% of its light is obscured by dust in the plane of the Milky Way, making it a challenging target for astrophotographers. NGC 3631 is a starburst galaxy, hosting intense star-forming regions that emit strong radiation, ionizing the surrounding gas and creating striking emission nebulae throughout its spiral arms. Despite its size and activity, this galaxy is not often photographed due to its obscured visibility, but its intricate structure and vibrant regions make it a rewarding subject for those who capture it.
