After all art since pre-historic times was involved with matter and space. Artist should know how to chisel through marble and granite to liberate sculptures, cast gypsum and bronze, cut through wood, prepare canvas, and mix colours that should survive centuries. All these skills are learned and acquired by practice. Underlying meaning In all arts the artist toolbox has powerful tool called composition. Composition is the “...underlying meaning” through which an artwork communicates and creates an association bound with the audience. If the composition of an artwork is uniquely balanced artwork speaks loudly without any need of explaining or interpretation. Artwork can be abstract to any extent, as long as artist controls composition in such a way that any change in element, addition, elimination, change of order or color will break down composition designed and selected as the unique balance. Balance doesn’t mean expression which could be dynamic, contrast or nuance based. Composition is opposite of Random process, white noise as an example of randomness is completely, meaningless.
