A.P.Polo - "Taurus" - Flensburg / Germany Photograph / Mixed Media / Digital Art The original long time exposed photo was taken at night in Flensburg out of movement in combination with zoom and rotation of the camera and served, so to speak, as a supplier for the "light color palette" of this work. The basic idea for the work on this picture was to create a triangle-like space with the "light colors". I was surprised to find that I had unconsciously and unintentionally created a bulls head-like structure and therefore looked at the astronomical description of the zodiac sign Taurus in the net. While reading this I was stunned by the enormous unconscious synchronicity between the description for the sign of the zodiac Taurus and my picture and thought only - " Great, then I at least know what Im writing into the description" Since this description already existed before my picture and I knew nothing of its existence, I list it here for all those for whom that was not yet enough text..... The Taurus is visible from November to April in the evening and from August to December in the morning. It stands in the sky north of the conspicuous Orion, which according to mythology defeated it. The head of the Taurus is formed by the V-shaped open star cluster of the Hyades, the "rain star". The conspicuous reddish star Aldebaran represents the eye facing Orion. At some distance east of the Hyades stand the stars ? Tauri (Elnath, Arab. Horn) and ? Tauri, which represent the tips of the horns. A hands width northwest of the Hyades stands the open star cluster of the Pleiades - also called the Seven Star. The body of the Taurus in the southern half of the constellation is inconspicuous. The ecliptic runs through the constellation, therefore the sun, moon and planets pass through it. The Taurus thus belongs to the signs of the zodiac. The moon can sometimes cover the main star Aldebaran and stars of the Pleiades. Due to the precessional movement of the Earths axis, the time of the solar passage has shifted in relation to antiquity. The sun is currently in the Taurus from 14 May to 21 June. Since 1990, the Sun has been standing in the constellation of Taurus during the summer solstice, before that it was in the twins. In ancient times the summer point was located in the constellation Cancer, hence the still today common name "Tropic of Cancer" for the Northern Tropic of Cancer. The Taurus is one of the oldest constellations and was already known to earlier advanced civilizations. A constellation of bulls (Taurus or Centaurus) is first mentioned in the 3rd millennium BC by the Sumerians, where a mythological celestial bull also appears in the Gilgamesh epic. The constellation Taurus is one of the 48 classical constellations described in the astronomical work of Ptolemy. The bulls head is formed by the bright, triangular star cluster of the Hyades, from which two long horns emanate in the direction of the constellation Orion. In Mesopotamia, however, Orion was associated with the legendary King Gilgamesh, who defeated the Celestial Bull in battle. The Hyades are also called the Rainy Star because their evening rise in autumn announced a rainy season. In early Greece, the Hyades were regarded as a constellation in their own right. Together with the Pleiades they form the so-called Golden Gate of the Ecliptic. In 1054 a supernova lit up in the bull, the event was recorded by Chinese astronomers. The remains of the stellar explosion are now visible as a Crab Nebula. The French astronomer and comet hunter Charles Messier included this dimly shining cloud as the first object M1 in his nebula catalogue.
