My subject matter includes architectural, waterscapes, landscapes, macro and abstracts both nature and other interesting objects. My wildlife subjects include songbirds, raptors, reptiles and mammals. I have received special recognition in the form of competition winners and/or published images including Canadian Geographic, Canadian Wildlife, Photolife, Sigma Canada, Outdoor Photography Canada, Our Canada and PhotoNews. I love to spend my days in nature capturing everything from landscapes to animals to a simple flower or a minute insect. I am fortunate to have many trails in my area, two rivers, the Speed and Eramosa Rivers, a lake (Guelph Lake) and many streams, creeks and wetlands where I can hike alone and spend hours capturing life's most serene and peaceful moments. I also vacation in the summer and fall in northern Ontario where the rugged landscape, rock formations and beautiful lakes and rivers are just outstanding. The tall beautiful bearded Iris, Iradaceae, named after the Greek Goddess who rode rainbows, comes in many magical colors and attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. The distinctive flowers have three large outer petals called falls and three inner upright petals called standards. The falls may have beards or crests. Irises definitely make a statement in a spring garden with the bold and beautiful colors especially this one in magical colors of cherry, pink, purple and yellow. Just stunning!
