Its a new day in Cheticamp! Photographed from the government wharf in town at dawn, a calm morning in the harbour offered a mirrored image of this Cheticamp treasure.... St. Pierres church. Built in 1893 at the cost of almost $42,000 by Father Fiset (his tomb may be visited under the church Sanctuary.) Stones for the building were quarried and hauled on the ice by area parishioners from Cheticamp Island across the harbor. When driving to Cheticamp, its steeple can be seen from miles away. Cheticamp, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
