My subject matter includes architectural, waterscapes, landscapes, macro and abstracts both nature and other interesting objects. My wildlife subjects include songbirds, raptors, reptiles and mammals. I have received special recognition in the form of competition winners and/or published images including Canadian Geographic, Canadian Wildlife, Photolife, Sigma Canada, Outdoor Photography Canada, Our Canada and PhotoNews. I love to spend my days in nature capturing everything from landscapes to animals to a simple flower or a minute insect. Photography for me, is both relaxing and exhilarating and every capture is pure joy. I am fortunate to have many trails in my area, two rivers, the Speed and Eramosa Rivers, a lake (Guelph Lake) and many streams, creeks and wetlands where I can hike alone and spend hours capturing life's most serene and peaceful moments. I also vacation in the summer and fall in northern Ontario where the rugged landscape, rock formations and beautiful lakes and rivers are just outstanding. "Dolphin Close Up" by J Nelson and Debbie Oppermann. Out on a boat cruise, quite a few Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins were playfully jumping and splashing around the boat to the delight of all those on board. They were near the Barron Collier Bridge in Charlotte County Florida. Bottlenose dolphins are found worldwide in tropical and temperate waters, often along the coast or in bays, harbors or estuaries.Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins eat fish, squid and crustaceans. They exhibit a range of feeding strategies, including cooperative hunting (working together to herd fish into tight circles), following fishing boats, digging in the sand to uncover food and chasing fish onto mud banks.Adult Bottlenose Dolphins can reach 6 to 12 feet in length and weigh 400 to 800 pounds. Full-grown males are slightly larger than adult females. While Bottlenose Dolphins are not endangered, some populations are depleted. Coastal populations may be especially vulnerable to habitat degradation, including high levels of pollutants from human activities both on and offshore. In the United States, dolphins are safeguarded by the U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act.
