ABOUT WAYNE FISHER contact artist
Follow

Wayne Fisher – Photographer & Visual Artist Photography has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. What began as a fascination with capturing moments evolved into a lifelong pursuit of seeing the world differently through the lens. My photographic journey began in South Africa, where I developed a deep appreciation for the power of photography to document people, places and history. After earning a National Diploma in Photography in Pretoria, I continued my journey in Canada, where new landscapes, architecture and cultures expanded my creative perspective. I am drawn to the unexpected beauty found in everyday surroundings. Architecture, industrial structures, urban environments, sculptures, textures and the interplay of light and shadow continually inspire my work. I look beyond the obvious, searching for patterns, contrasts, reflections and perspectives that reveal something unique about a subject. I believe photography is not simply about recording what we see, but interpreting it through our own creative vision. My approach is driven by curiosity, experimentation and the desire to transform ordinary subjects into compelling visual experiences. Each photograph represents an opportunity to explore, discover and communicate something that might otherwise go unnoticed. I am honoured to have been a member of Team Canada at the World Photographic Cup in 2020 and 2026, an experience that continues to inspire and challenge my creative journey. For me, photography is more than an image. It is a personal interpretation of the world, a connection between the subject and the viewer, and an enduring expression of how I see. I don’t just capture what I see. I seek to reveal what others might overlook.
