ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: AUTUMN BAYOU
It is the late afternoon in the autumn in Mississippi. The original of this acrylic painting is in the Hllyer Gallery in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, it is 24" X 48" on masonite. The Old Fort Bayou river runs through a wide bayou. The sun brings up the golden color of the salt grass that makes up the marsh and the foreground is wetlands studded with tall pine trees. The purpose of the bayou is to turn the salt water of the Gulf of Mexico into fresh water where fish and shellfish spawn and then return to the Gulf. The fishing and river boating here are legendary in the deep waters of this river.
