DanFriedtPhotography

My name is Daniel (Dan) Friedt. I became a fledgling 'photographer' at the mighty age of 6 (born in 1955) when my dad allowed me to use his Brownie Camera, shooting Black and White pictures outside around our house. I still have that first photo, a very long shot of my siblings lined up along in front of the garage door. It was hard to even make them out because I was so far away and did not want to 'cut' anyone's head off. I was certainly not a photographer at that point in my life.

At the age of fourteen my dad took me to the big city. That memorable trip found him guiding me into a camera store where he purchased my first Pentax Spotmatic camera which I still have, and it still works. I was stunned. All he said to me was: "When you buy something better you need to give this camera back to me!" I never did give it back to him because he always had a better film camera than I did. It wasn't until DSLRs showed up did I move past his camera model. Since then I have owned many Pentax cameras, with the latest being the Pentax K3, Pentax K3iii and Ricoh Pentax WG-40. I also have a few trusty lenses: 50mm Macro, 14mm for Astrophotography, 24-70mm (a very recent purchase), 18-270mm, and 150-450mm. All are Pentax lenses and they are loved.
