My mother is West-Indian raised as a barefoot Guyanese girl bordering on the Amazon jungle. My grandfather once killed an anteater to see what it tasted like. My Uncle immigrated to Canada and earned enough money working for McDonalds to bring the rest of my family to Canada, where I was born. You would think these cultural stories would play a major part in the development of my unique artistic style, but everything that matters to me is rooted in my deep and fervent love for JESUS.
I discovered my ability to paint using watercolour during the COVID lockdowns. My husband recognized my talent and encouraged me to develop an original style. I am still stumbling along trying to see what works best for me, but I am leaning towards pieces which will glorify the Creator and Savior of the universe.
Now a bit of poetry…
“Blah, blah blah” say the sayers of nay
“Who needs a god? I’m already good; I’m already ok”
They sit, pleased in their hearts, though the void eats away…
As the seed of uncertainty grows and leads them astray
A broken and contrite heart HE cannot deny
A truth is true even if you think it’s a lie
Being obstinate and stiff-necked will only make you die
Cry out to Jesus, HE is apt to reply
With love,
Charlotte Edhouse
