Frank Wilson
Member of the International Guild Of Realism. Inducted into the Grumbacher Artist Hall Of Fame Frank Wilson is a Northern California painter and nature photographer whose work transforms wilderness into heirloom art. With a masterful eye for light and atmosphere, he captures the quiet grandeur of forests, mountain meadows, and remote landscapes where time seems to slow. Each piece reflects a lifetime of immersion in the natural world — from the rugged Sierra Nevada to the storied woodlands of Vermont and the Appalachian East. Collectors value Wilson’s work for its extraordinary realism, emotional depth, and the sense of calm it brings into a space. His paintings and photographs are crafted with archival precision and a deep respect for the land, offering viewers not just an image, but an experience — a moment of stillness, memory, and connection to the wild. Frank Wilson’s art invites you to bring the serenity of nature into your home or collection, where it continues to inspire long after the first glance ARTIST STATEMENT The beauty, power and majesty of God's creation serve as the cornerstone for my artistic and photographic endeavors. Each sunrise, each delicate flower, and every towering mountain speaks of His magnificent and intricate design. Capturing these moments with brush or through my lens allows me to reflect on the profound artistry of the Creator Himself. It is within the natural world that I find endless inspiration, a source of awe that fuels my creativity and drives me to honor His works in my own creations. Every click of the shutter, every stroke of the brush, is a humble tribute to the divine craftsmanship and exquisite artistry that is ever-present in nature's splendor.
ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: AUTUMNS GLORY
This is a very "atmospheric" painting in which the reds in the forest fade out into the blues of the distant mountains. This painting does not represent a particular place but is a compilation of various scenic elements that I remember from the hill tops surrounding the little village of East Topsham, Vermont where I resided for 24 years. This painting represents the quintessential Vermont landscape of a bygone era. The stone walls are a practical way of disposing the stones that the frost would push up as well as serving as a permanent boundary marker that could not easily be moved. The maple trees growing along the ancient stone wall are called "witness trees" as they were planted generations ago by farmers who wanted a clear boundary between their land and that of their neighbors. The trees had practical uses as windbreaks and also served as good maple orchard for tapping in the spring for maple sap to be boiled down into maple syrup. Most every stone wall had built in gates so that farmers could move their cattle and sheep and haying wagons from one field to another. Very often the gates would fall into disrepair and be left open especially if there were no cattle to graze the high pastures.
