ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: WHITE HERON TAKE OFF
A beautiful large white egret heron landing in some swampy waters on a dead tree in the late afternoon around Tomoka State Park on Florida's east coast. The shadows were getting long, the colors more vivid and the lighting wonderful. Just tlook at that stunning reflection! We were on our way back to the state park when I caught a glimpse across the water noticing the huge differences in colors between the white heron and the dark swamp. We turned around to see if I could get there before the beautiful Egret flew away. Very carefully I got out of the car and grabbed my camera getting several photographs before he began to feel threatened. He settled down once and I caught him as he ws landing back in the water, but he very guickly disappeared as I was tring to further adjust my settings. My photo was taken in early January, the temperatures ideal for photography. Great Egrets are also known as common egrets, large egrets and great white herons. Mostly known for their size, they are quite regal birds and a favorite to photograph in Florida.
