My name is Steve "T-Rex" Trexler, and I'm a photographer residing in the Denver Colorado Metro area where I've lived since August of 1987. I am retired from a professional accounting career and have since spent my time traveling wherever and whenever I can. Having been a former scout leader for over 26 years, I became an avid hiker, backpacker, and mountain climber. In so doing, I have planned numerous hiking, backpacking, and climbing trips, for not just the scouts, but the many personal friends that I've enjoyed hiking with through the years. After spending so much time in the outdoors, I naturally took up photography in order to record for posterity, the many trips that I've been on.

This image was born early in the morning of September 15, 2021. That morning I was camping near the memorial and got up very early so I could get into the memorial before all the crowds. Fortunately, I was one of the few people there (all were photographers) and was able to get numerous images of the faces just as the sun came up in the east. This image was created a few minutes earlier than the other images offered, with the sun creating a beautiful magenta glow on the presidential carvings when I was able to capture that glorious morning light in South Dakota. Mt Rushmore National Memorial features the colossal heads of four U.S. presidents – George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln – carved into granite in the Black Hills of South Dakota by sculptor Gutzon Borglum and his son, Lincoln Borglum. The project, which was began in 1927, was designed to represent the nation’s founding, expansion, preservation, and unification. One of the most iconic landscape in the USA, Mt Rushmore National Memorial is without question the most recognizable location in the entire country. The memorial brings together history, scenic wonder, patriotic values, and American ingenuity all in one location. It's a "must see" location for all who consider themselves American patriots.
