ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: SCARLET TANAGER
A vibrant red bird Scarlet Tanager perched on a thin branch among green leaves. My first time visiting Point Pelee, we saw a scarlet tanager from the car as we drove up to the gates of the campground in Wheatley Provincial Park. I thought that was a good omen, but while we saw tons of other birds throughout the weekend, we did not see another scarlet tanager. Finally, as we were packing up our campsite to leave, I went to use the facilities and realized that there were dozens of them, feasting on insects in the swampy area right next to the washrooms!
