Baker’s Infinite Canvas presents portraits of people who refuse to be reduced by what they have survived. Moving between painterly realism and bold graphic color, the work examines bodily autonomy, illness, grief, aging, and quiet acts of refusal. These subjects are not presented as inspirational symbols. They are complicated people claiming the right to exist without permission, explanation, or apology. Digital and AI tools are part of the process. Human experience remains the subject.

This piece is deeply personal to me. Creating it was an effort to reflect the quiet yet unshakable strength I’ve witnessed in women. The cracks running through her body tell stories of struggle, resilience, and survival—proof of everything she’s endured and overcome. They don’t diminish her; they reveal her strength. The flowers growing through the cracks and crowning her head represent life and beauty emerging from pain. They are a reminder that even in the harshest conditions, growth is possible, and something stunning can emerge from hardship. The storm above her symbolizes the weight of challenges she’s faced, but the golden light breaking through captures her inner power—the light she carries despite it all. This piece is for the women who inspire me daily—the ones who carry heavy burdens yet continue to bloom, the ones who find ways to rise, even when life tries to hold them down. I used AI as my creative partner to bring this vision to life, weaving together emotion and symbolism in a way that feels true to the stories I want to tell.
