Paul Edward Phillips – Artist Bio
Founder | Paul Edward Phillips Gallery
Paul Edward Phillips is a visual artist, storyteller, and cultural documentarian whose work centers the beauty, power, and complexity of the Black experience. Based in Harlem, New York—a neighborhood rich in heritage and cultural expression—Phillips brings bold, narrative-driven art to life through vibrant color, layered symbolism, and emotional depth.
His journey as a creative began with a career in broadcast production and photography, where he worked alongside legends and honed a distinct visual style. His art explores themes of identity, history, resilience, and legacy—often blending fine art techniques with elements of street culture, ancestral memory, and contemporary Black life.
The Paul Edward Phillips Gallery is the culmination of a lifetime spent honoring culture through visual media. Each piece is an invitation to reflect, feel, and engage—whether it’s a portrait rooted in Harlem soul, or an abstract expression of Black evolution.
Phillips’ work has been celebrated by collectors, creatives, and cultural institutions alike. He continues to use his platform to amplify Black voices, inspire new artists, and contribute to the ongoing narrative of what it means to be Black and bold in America.
