Dama Mora
Dama Mora is an artist based in Bloomington, Indiana. Her work uses bold, vibrant color to challenge the stereotype of the “cat lady,” presenting a contemporary and empowered figure. Influenced by Fauvism, she deliberately moves away from realist conventions, using exaggerated color and playful compositions to prioritize expression over accuracy.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in art education from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, and a master’s degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson. After a breast cancer diagnosis in 2020, she committed more fully to drawing and painting, with cats frequently appearing as central subjects in her work.
