Candice Daum is a Winnipeg-based photographer whose work celebrates animals in motion and the beauty of the natural world. Her work has earned national recognition through the Professional Photographers of Canada, reflecting years spent developing an instinct for capturing fleeting moments where energy, personality, and movement come together.
While much of her professional work focuses on animal sports, Candice’s passion for wildlife photography grew unexpectedly while practicing with her camera between events. Photographing fast-moving songbirds became a natural way to keep her timing and reflexes sharp during the off-season, and what began as simple practice gradually evolved into a fascination with birds and their behaviour.
Through her photography, brief encounters in nature can be slowed and examined. Details that might pass unnoticed in the field can later be studied with care, allowing photography to become part of the discovery process itself and helping expand a growing record of species and encounters.
These photographs invite the natural world into everyday spaces. In a home or office, they offer a quiet pause — a glimpse of movement, light, and life that might otherwise be easily overlooked.
Careful editing refines each image to bring those details forward, sometimes with a subtle painterly touch, transforming a brief encounter in nature into artwork that reveals the extraordinary in the everyday.
