In 1953, my family emigrated to Canada from Holland, with thousands of post-war families (not all on the same boat). We sailed on the 'Waterman' when I was 8. We lived on the coast in Nova Scotia, and survived the culture shock thanks to the incredible kindness of our neighbours.

At 14, we moved to Toronto, and I married my highschool sweetheart I met the Sunday we arrived, at the church where my father was a pastor. We married when I reached the age of 19, in 1964. Our first 2 years we lived in a studio apartment and bought our home at Yonge and Eglinton in Toronto in 1966. We've certainly had our ups-and-downs. Bill loved roller-coasters, and I was happy to go with him for the ride.

I've had a 60-year career as a Real Estate, Wedding, Family Portrait & Landscape Photographer / Graphic Designer, and retired at 79, 2 years ago.

We have 3 sons and 2 granddaughters - the light of my life, and we've spent a great deal of time with them. We're eternally grateful that all of our children live either in Toronto or very nearby.

We do things a little slower and differently now, and 6 years ago, sold the house and moved into a condo - still in Midtown at Yonge and Eglinton, within a 5 minute walk from absolutely everything!

My biggest regret is that with severe arthritis in my hands and not-too-badly everywhere else, it's difficult for me to hold my camera or set up the tripod, so I can no longer go on my photography shoots, which has been my passion since I was 6 years old.

But now, I have 1,000's of images which I edit in Photoshop and Topaz and have created this site with Pictorem. As I can't see my images as clearly as I did when I shot them, editing includes AI in some cases, and some images, my memories of Holland, Nova Scotia and Trips to France, are created in AI, as well. I've also learned to do some fun things that way, e.g. abstracts and images in the styles of my favourite artists, like Monet, the Canadian McMichael Collection artists, Renoir and Picasso. I hope you like them.
