I grew up in Amherst Shore, Nova Scotia, a small coastal community along the Northumberland Strait. Creativity has always been a part of my life. From an early age I was exploring many art and craft materials, experimenting and developing a love for the creative process.
I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (major in Fine Art, Minor in Art History) at NSCAD University, where I concentrated on painting and drawing. A love of learning and Art led me to Memorial University to complete a Bachelor of Education. Teaching Art for 14 years allowed me to see the creative process from a different perspective. Helping students work through their ideas and witnessing their creativity in action taught me more than I could have ever imagined.
I enjoy working across different mediums and have recently focused on digital art. The natural world and daily life are a constant source of inspiration to me. I strive for my artwork to reflect slow, contemplative, moments and scenes captured from my life. Working with digital art has allowed me to extend my creativity to designing unique repeating patterns full of personality and ready to add character to a variety of products like, totes, scarves, and notebooks.
In 2025, I launched Sandra Jane Art & Design as a way to share my passion more widely, offer original prints, unique products and collaborate with others who have ideas they would like to see come to life.
