A Photographer Recognized by Christie's – A Master of Large-Scale Nature Photography and Surrealism.
Masahiro Hiroike is an internationally acclaimed photographer known for his ultra-high-definition works that capture realistic nature and landscapes with a new abstract expression of surrealism.
Raised in Tottori Prefecture, surrounded by abundant nature, Hiroike cultivated a deep sensitivity to landscapes, which forms the core of his work. His photographs transcend the boundaries of traditional realism, incorporating movement, time, and chance to create dynamic and expressive images.
He has received high international acclaim, being selected as a recipient of the LensCulture Critics’ Choice Awards 2023 by Christie's curators and winning second place in the Nature category at the Sony World Photography Awards 2020.
Hiroike's distinctive approaches include action photography, where the camera is used as a tool for bodily expression, and digital photographic surrealism, which explores the perception of the subconscious through digital images. He is also the sole digital camera and photographer for the international contemporary art project "Atelier Quindici." ( https://www.atelierquindici.eu/en/ )
His works are produced in ultra-high-resolution, large-format prints up to 1.5m in size, making them ideal for architectural and interior spaces. More than simply decorating walls, his works transform spaces into immersive visual experiences, captivating viewers through light, movement, and traces of time.
His works are held in private collections around the world.
