Arlene Crooks-Best is an accomplished artist, designer, and creative professional based in Stratford, Ontario. Her multifaceted career began in Toronto’s fashion and modelling industry, where she trained at International Top Models before managing multiple branches across Ontario and developing the first Makeup Artistry course in Toronto. Her international experience includes time in Paris with Flash Modelling Agency and the successful launch of the first International Top Models School in New York City.
In 1985, Arlene founded Directions Talent Management Inc., representing more than sixty performers across television, film, and theatre. Her insight, professionalism, and ability to recognize talent made her a respected figure within the entertainment industry.
After moving to Stratford with her husband, actor Wayne Best, Arlene turned her creative energy toward interior design. Through Ar Works and later Arlene Best Interiors, she built a design practice known for artistry, colour, and warmth. Her hand-painted floorcloths were featured in Floorcloth Magic by Lisa Curry Mair, and her poster design for Balzac’s Coffee Roastery appeared in Vogue Magazine’s March 2007 issue.
Today, Arlene’s artistic journey continues through acrylic painting and fluid art, where she explores movement, chemistry, and the harmony of colour. Her work celebrates spontaneity, transformation, and emotional expression — a natural evolution of her lifelong passion for beauty in all its forms.
