Kenneth Evans is an established oil painting fine artist, who works in Seascape, Coastal and Marine themes from his home base on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, from the New England coast, and from America's waterways and countryside in general. "I have a strong emotional response to the beauty of our coastal seas and lands. Through painting I also have grown to a better understanding of how these sustain us and are so necessary to preserve."
Born by the shore in Stamford, CT, it was also this proximity to New York early on which afforded him the opportunity to study in the museums there and to paint in the City’s abundant art world, from abstract to landscape, then seascape. At present illustrating and informing us from these motifs using strong yet controlled color, line and light which often creates the striking sense of "being there."
This is somewhat like experiencing the feeling of the place say many, yet not photographically so. Most often this would be due to the technique of substantial use of surface texture and the energetic use of palette knife, the looking through layers of lacquer to see light bouncing from the toned canvas behind, as well of course the artist's own particular vision.
His work has been written of and advertised in most major art magazines from Fine Art Connoisseur to American Art Review, and has sold nationally from coast to cost and internationally. He has had one person shows or been featured most years since 1989 from Newport, RI to Carmel, CA, and often teaches painting at the Cape Cod Museum of Art. He is represented by a number of fine art galleries across the country.
