"My work is inspired by a fascination with color, texture and the relationship between people and the artifacts that document our existence". I use a variety of recycled and repurposed materials, reminiscent of the cultural diversity of the African continent. Subjects range from still lifes to Jazz and Blues and African cultural icons. The practices of slavery are sometimes used as a reference, where, in this case, art is created through the appropriation of images and cultural references that are intermingled to arrive at a new paradigm in art. My work explores underlying codes within society, art, and ethnography."
