I have been taking pictures / sketching things that strike my eye since I was ‘knee high to a grasshopper’. Growing up in the small-ish town of Urbana (pronounced er-BAN-a) amongst the cornfields of Central-Illinois. My youth amongst the flatlands made me easily impressed by all scenics not flat and farmland, that being said, the flat farmland continues to amaze me.
After University I took a job w/two family owned wine shops in downtown Chicago. After several years at the ‘shops’ I took a sabbatical to work a wine harvest in Northern California. I was hooked.
While I did return to the shops in Chicago -my homecoming was brief. Next autumn I found myself on the road again, this time for harvest in Oregon, then the Central Otago of New Zealand, back to California, the Burgundy of France, Oregon again and now I am where I have decidedly called ‘it’ home for the moment -Northern California.
My work in wine has given me the incredible opportunity to work in some of the most beautiful areas of the world. I feel very lucky to have been able to capture some of these places in photographs and hope that you might enjoy them as well.
