When I started carving, it was an in-depth look into my personal family history as well as an intense study of traditional Gitxsan Northwest Coast Art. I translate stories as I see them in my mind - that is my inspiration”Focusing on the wilderness, her culture, and the supernatural beauty of her home Arlene is able to create a truly Northwest approach to fine art. She is very appreciative to have such a rich heritage and culture to draw inspiration from, creating “moments in time” from Gitxsan history, legends, and soul-touching experiences in her life.
