After studying the physics behind cameras in college, I started getting interested in photography when I started hiking. Developing my artistic skill has been a rewarding venture, and enabled me to get a number of my photographs into art galleries and curated art shows, including having one of my photographs from Patagonia selected for a print exhibition in the Louvre.

As I transitioned from film to digital, I also became curious about motion pictures, and ended up making a promotional video for a TEDx conference, an experience that got me hooked on cinematography. Since then I have shot over 40 short films and two feature films. Some of those have gotten festival awards, including Best Short, Best Director, and a nomination for Best Picture.

I have since had photo sets published in international magazines including Marika and Artizen, and have been a featured artist on JaamZin Creative: https://www.jaamzin.com/post/photographer-rakesh-malik
