personal bio
James Cooke
A passions for photography and, of course, poetry/writing. Many years ago, I spent two formative years at The Ferrers Specialist Art Collage, where I honed my skills and developed a deep appreciation for art.
I spent many years in this chaotic world photographing with meticulous attention to detail, the natural beauty of photography is the imagination that creates a perfect photo.
My camera is a tool of my body, an image-forming device, a dynamic tool that heightens the senses, furthers artistic exploration and allows continuous experimentation. Through the lens, I gain a deeper connection with the world, nature and people.
With the wealth of experience from my time as a published author/poet and photographer, I have countless stories and memories to share from my adventures. Two current series focus on mystery and abstraction.
They reflect my lifelong attraction to the impressionist painters and the partially rendered sketches of the masters. My new images explore the tension between the tangible, the eternal and the ephemeral. Through an impressionistic style with intentional camera motion or creating textures within botanical images, I hope to move the viewer to feel the energy and poetry of a captured moment, unencumbered by preconceived realities.
