Born in Barcelona, Imma Barrera is a landscape and nature photographer based in Metuchen NJ. She is a graduate of NY Institute of Photography and has won several awards and exhibited her photography in a number of galleries worldwide.
One of her favorite subjects to photograph is the Milky Way and has been selected for several Artist-in-Residence programs (Capitol Reef, Acadia, Glacier and Grand Canyon National Parks) for her night sky photography. In addition, she was shortlisted in the Landscape category of the 2019 Sony World Photography Awards’ Professional competition with her series “Under the Night Sky”.
Imma runs educational programs about photography and seminars to raise awareness about the need to protect our natural treasures. She has published books about the night skies in NJ/NY (“The stars, the moon and the sun (in the NJ/NY area)." ISBN: 9781083074126), and the first book of the series "Photographic Journeys Through National Parks” about her experiences as an Artist in Residence ("An Artist in residence: Capitol Reef National Park" ISBN 979-8732799750). Currently, she is working on other books covering Glacier and Acadia National Parks and on her “Under The Night Sky” book documenting several US national parks at night.
